Who Am I
I am a professionally qualified and experienced BACP accredited therapeutic counsellor and supervisor. I work with adults, couples and young people. I am passionate about encouraging others to develop and work towards achieving their own personal and professional goals. I currently work with 11-25 year olds for a young person’s counselling service, I am the safeguarding manager for this service and I work with adults accepting referrals from EAP services, GP’S and self-referrals.
A Safe Counselling Relationship
On entering into our counselling relationship we will be working in a confidential, safe, friendly and non-judgemental supportive environment. I believe this will help you during the sometimes difficult process of speaking to someone new. Once our work begins you will see I am a warm, approachable, compassionate and experienced counsellor whose aim is to build a safe, non-directive relationship which will enable us to explore your difficulties. Together we will look at how you are managing your life and work towards how you would like your life to be. We will do this by supporting you to speak about your problems, understanding your behaviours, creating a desired life path and setting some realistic goals for you to work towards which will improve the quality of your life.
I work as an integrative counsellor which means I will use different theoretical approaches in our sessions which will include Person Centred, CBT, TA and Solution Focussed Therapy. My main theoretical orientation is humanistic and I am heavily influenced by Carl Rogers and his 3 core conditions of Empathy, Unconditional Positive Regard and Congruence. My belief is that you have the answers to your problems and our sessions will help you find them during our work together. Our sessions will help you to develop your skills to become more self-aware which will enhance your confidence and self-esteem.
